General call

Sappho's Prize in Poetry is awarded annually for one full-length poetry collection by a lesbian. The winning manuscript will be selected by Mary Meriam, who reads every submission, and published by Headmistress Press. Winner receives book publication, 50 author copies, 10% of net sales royalties, and publicity financing. Submissions are open to lesbian-identified poets at any stage in their career. Manuscripts must have between 45-100 pages of poetry, and include name, address, telephone, email, acknowledgments, and bio. Simultaneous and multiple submissions are permitted. Individual poems may be published in journals or chapbooks, but the manuscript as a whole must be unpublished. If your manuscript is accepted for publication elsewhere, please withdraw it using the Submittable system. The Submittable portal will be open only during the month of October, and the entry fee is $25.
