<div>Not positive this is the right tag, but what's generally best practice for dealing with presses when the submission has been waiting for longer than their typical response time. Like 50-100% longer? I know that can be normal, but just want to make sure I'm not missing anything</div>

<div>As someone who's been on both sides of this exact situation, there's absolutely nothing wrong with reaching out to ask about it! It may feel like you're bothering them, but unless they're just naturally cranky, I can pretty much guarantee that won't be the case.</div>

<div>I recently reached out (via Submittable). I'd reworked my story, so I sent the pubs a message and uploaded the refreshed MS in case they were interested. Some pubs disable the upload function, so you'll have to reach out via email.</div>

<div>Agree with others here about reaching out. It's totally OK. Also OK almost all of the time--submitting the same work to several other journals. Once it's accepted, just be sure to withdraw it from the other journals right away. Their loss, right?</div>
