The Nearest Sweetest Thing

		On the radio the song tells me to
	get down with it and the cashier asks me 
	
	if that will be all. I watch the bangles 
on her wrist with a bird's interest.

Get in the Robot

	We imagine Summer as the settling 
before Fall’s bleached hand but in truth 
			it is a vein waiting 
	to burst, a wasp standing 
to attention, the hare poised 
		for its leap across the road into 
the bush.

I promise the thunderbolt never misses

	Made a to do list for myself, scrawled 
	on the back of an old grocery store receipt. Titled it 
Things I Should Have Done By Now.

Breakfast at T&T

I am getting good at not thinking about them and I do this 
by stringing myself up on the same pattern. 


Three poems

On the edge of the couch, TV girl ponders cut fruit.


Sorry I'm late                    it was raining.           The street
outside           is really wet you                      should have 
seen it. It looks like             a mirror.
