
Jessica Galán is an emerging writer based in Hartford, Connecticut. Her fiction has appeared in Kweli, Huizache, and 2024 Connecticut Literary Anthology.  Her work has been supported by Soaring Gardens Artist Residency and The Highlights Foundation. 

Jess teaches English Language Development to resilient students in Hartford, CT. She was born in Camden, New Jersey and raised in New Haven, Connecticut. 

She received a 2019 fellowship with The Highlights Foundation and was a Kweli 2020 inaugural fellow with the award-winning literary magazine.

Her debut story PALACIO appeared in Kweli. PITO was featured in Huizache, a leading Latinx literary magazine. Jess’s latest story, AURORA LIGHTS is part of the 2024 Connecticut Literary Anthology.

She was awarded a 2024 summer residency at Soaring Gardens Artists Retreat where she began writing her current novel-in-progress, AGUACERO, an intergenerational story about environmental catastrophes and colonial eugenics campaigns.
