How to submit
Process
What's our process? For FICTION: Click the guidelines button to submit. Please use Times New Roman, 12 point font and double space your work. Send finished drafts of up to 4,000 words in an attached Word doc. For NONFICTION/INTERVIEWS: Your work gets sent to the appropriate editor (Shelby Hinte for essays & interviews, Kailey DelloRusso & Benjamin Davis for features). It goes through a first round and is either moved up or rejected. If a piece is moved up, we decide as a team whether to publish it. You receive an acceptance or rejection. For accepted pieces, we'll be promoting them on WoD & Chill Subs with open doors for promotional brainstorming, questions, & drink recommendations. Key takeaways: We accept craft essays (tell us about your writing life), interviews (tell us about someone else's writing life), and featured articles (help writers get better at their craft). All under 3000 words, please. No need to tell us if it's a simultaneous submission (we pretty much assume that in this day and age). But we don't accept previously published work (sans social media). You will not be judged on your bio, cover letter, typos, formatting snafus, or on anything other than the quality of the work itself. Please attach your submission to the email (preferably as a .doc or .docx) What we want and how to get it to us: For interviews: We are currently looking for interviews with writers who have a book forthcoming or recently published. We are especially interested in featuring interviews with authors published by indie presses. email: shelby@writeordiemag.com For Essays: We publish first-person narrative essays that explore the intersection of writing and life (whatever that means to you). We are always interested in essays that illuminate the strange, obsessive, spiritual/magical ways that writing and reading shape our reality. email: shelby@writeordiemag.com *Every month all rejections enter into a lottery to win a Fuck It. Submit. Mug, Sub Club Membership, and a shout-out on social media. Thank you for trusting us with your work.

A Note on Pitches: If you are pitching an essay, blog, or author interview, please send us a brief 2-3 paragraph pitch that tells us a little bit about what you would like to contribute, why you think it is a good fit for Write or Die Magazine, and who you are. A link to past publications is helpful but not necessary. If you are sending a finished draft for consideration, please send via word doc attachment (12-point font, double-spaced, with your name somewhere on the file) via email to the appropriate editor. If you are sending a pitch, simply write your 2-3 paragraph pitch in the body of the email and send it to the appropriate editor.
Rights for published work

About the Magazine
Founded in 2018 | United States
Write or Die Magazine is where all writers can find inspiration, accountability, and motivation. We are especially interested in being transparent about the writing process—the day-to-day routines of writers, the messy drafts, the rejections, and the hours spent staring into space. We love to talk about all of that. And we love that writing is something we all share and are all capable of without needing fancy accolades to prove you have something to say. *Submit via email. Details are listed at the end of each genre below.
