"Each issue contains remarkable new short stories and poetry from all around the world, alongside essays and interviews with authors and others. We strongly encourage submission of works in translation and writing which plays with genre."

How to submit

Process

We use Submittable.

Cover letters

For the foreseeable future, alongside submissions of short stories and poetry, we are also asking for a photo of a literary magazine (any literary magazine) bought recently. That said, if your financial situation makes this difficult, please send in your work regardless. Drop a quick note in your cover letter so the editor checking the requirements knows not to automatically reject the submission.

Formatting

This magazine does not list any details on their website for this section.

Rights for published work

We require First Serial Rights and the right to republish in the print edition. All work in Structo is published under the protection of a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.0 UK: England & Wales licence. Nothing in this licence impairs or restricts your individual moral rights as author.

Additional info

We ask everyone who sends in work for consideration to show that they have bought a literary magazine recently. That's any literary magazine, not just ours. An explanation for this can be found in the FAQ on our guidelines page.

About the Magazine

Founded in 2008 | United Kingdom

Structo is a literary magazine. It was founded in 2008 and is nominally UK-based, although its staff are scattered all over Europe and the rest of the world. After 20 issues heavily focused on print, we recently switched things up to go digital-first. Now, once the complete biannual issue has appeared online, it is capped with a beautiful print edition. We publish writing we love, whether from established writers or new voices. Structo is completely independent, not-for-profit and carries no advertising. Each member of the magazine team volunteers their time. We receive no grant funding, and rely entirely on sales, donations and income from Structo Press to publish the magazine.
