Exploring the beauty and drama of rural life

Rural Fiction Magazine (RFM) was established to explore the beauty and drama of rural life around the world. To date, we have had readers from at least forty-six nations. (ruralfictionmagazine.com)

RFM seeks primarily mainstream and literary stories and poetry set in rural areas globally. While we may occasionally publish works in other genres, all submissions must relate to rural settings. (ruralfictionmagazine.com)

Our mission is to develop talent equitably, identifying and nurturing hidden and disadvantaged voices in a world where not everyone has equal opportunities to showcase their abilities. We do not discriminate based on race, age, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or physical ability. The sole criterion for publication is the talent demonstrated in the use of English and the development of outstanding stories. (ruralfictionmagazine.com)

RFM aims to see diversity in writing from around the world, from all time zones. We respect everyone’s voice and strive to create a culture in which people from all cultures, races, and backgrounds feel encouraged to express their ideas and perspectives. (ruralfictionmagazine.com)

We publish works related to rural areas, primarily in the mainstream and literary genres. While we may occasionally explore other genres, all works we publish will be related in some fashion to rural areas. (ruralfictionmagazine.com)

RFM is open to submissions from all genres, including horror, fantasy, noir, mystery, thriller, adventure, etc., as long as they have a rural setting and address topics or themes of interest to people in rural areas or with connections to rural areas. (ruralfictionmagazine.com)

Although we cannot offer monetary compensation, we provide exposure by promoting each author as widely as possible. When your story is published on RFM, it is automatically shared on our pages and profiles on Facebook, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Bluesky, Mastodon, and soon Instagram Business. We strive to reach a global audience, publishing at 11:00 CST (12:00 EST), a time when most writing professionals and publishing executives in the US, United Kingdom, and Europe are active.
