The magazine publishes contemporary poetry and prose, primarily in English, and translations from contributors all over the world. 

In addition to its print publication, Poetry’s entire digital archive of over 1,200 issues is available for free, and content from 2013 to present is available in our digital app. Poetry has been published in Chicago since its founding in 1912.

My name is Davi Gray (she/they); I am a queer, trans, nonbinary poet, writer, performer, artist, activist, and abolitionist. I live in North Minneapolis (Bde Óta Othúŋwe), on unceded lands of the Dakota and Ojibwe.

I have work published or forthcoming in Poetry, Water~Stone Review, Hayden's Ferry Review, Rogue Agent, and elsewhere; won Honorable Mention in the 2023 Muriel Craft Bailey Poetry contest; and was selected as a finalist for the 2025 Haymarket Freedom Fellowship. I can often be found performing poetry at open mics and events around the Twin Cities.

Bde Óta Othúŋwe (Minneapolis)

Gray is a poet, writer, performer, artist, activist, and abolitionist; queer, trans, nonbinary, transfeminine; currently working as a writer, spoken-word performer, and organizer building bridges between writers & other artists leaving incarceration and arts and social-justice-oriented people and organizations.
Gray spent several years incarcerated, and has worked as a tutor, prison newspaper editor, software developer, and airborne infantry soldier.
They have been published in Poetry magazine, Water~Stone Review, Hayden's Ferry Review, and elsewhere, and have won several prizes in PEN America Prison Writing contests. She has a bachelor's degree in computer science from Hawaii Pacific University.

Peter Mason is a Bi+ poet from Rochester, NY currently living in the Twin Cities area. He is the Assistant Director of the MFA Program in Creative Writing at the University of Minnesota, and Assistant Poetry Editor of Copihue Poetry. Peter is a 2022 Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowship finalist, a recipient of the inaugural C.D. Wright/Academy of American Poets Prize, and an Artists 360 Grant from the Mid America Arts Alliance. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in Poetry Magazine, AGNI, Ninth Letter, Booth, Vinyl Poetry & Prose, The Journal, and elsewhere.

Anya Johnson is a Brooklyn-based writer and editor. Her fiction, poetry, and essays have been published or are forthcoming in Hobart, Stone Canoe, Scaffold, Anti-Heroin Chic, Counterclock (Emerging Writer’s Award, runner-up), and on poets.org (John B. Santoianni Award, winner). Anya holds an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College and is the current Poetry Editor for Exposition Review and an Editorial Assistant at Fonograf Editions.
