About the Magazine

Founded in 1975 | United States

New South is produced by MFA and PhD students at Georgia State University. Previously known as The GSU Review, we’ve been publishing new fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and art since 1975. Works first appearing in New South have been anthologized in Best American Poetry, New Stories from the South, Best Small Fictions, New Poetry from the Midwest, and noted in Best American Short Stories and Best of the Net. We like you and think you’re pretty neat. New South is currently undergoing an overhaul and will be back with a fresh team and a fresh look for the 2023-2024 academic year.
