How to submit

Process

For the subject line, include the genre of your submission and your name in the format: Submission: Genre – First Name Last Name. In the body of the email, include a brief cover letter and a third-person bio (and feel free to write a short message to the editors). All submissions must be attached as files, not as text in the body of the email. Submissions are read blindly, so please do not include your name or any identifying information within your document(s). We prefer PDF (.pdf) files.

Cover letters

If your piece has been previously published, please include credits to the original publisher in your cover letter and verify that you have full rights to republish.

Eligibility

No specific eligibility requirements

Formatting

All prose must be double-spaced, 12 pt. Times New Roman or Garamond font. Each work should be placed in a separate document, with the document title as LastName_FirstName_Genre_Title (e.g. “Smith_Joe_Fiction_Stones”). Please include the title of your work at the top of the document. All poems should be placed in one document, starting a new page for each poem. Title your document as LastName_FirstName_Poetry.

Rights for published work

We ask for first North American serial and electronic rights for previously unpublished works, as well as electronic archival rights. All rights revert back to the contributor following publication, but we ask that you credit Farside Review as the first place of publication if your piece is later published elsewhere. By submitting to us, you affirm that your work does not violate copyright law in any form.

Additional info

We accept both previously published and unpublished works from authors who have not yet published a full-length manuscript via a major publisher at the time of submission.

About the Magazine

Founded in 2020 | United States

Our Mission Established in 2020, Farside Review was conceived as a meditation on the lunar orbit. For our eyes, the moon only ever wears one face; its “farside” is perpetually masked by a dance of rotation and revolution. The light on the farside of the moon never reaches Earth. But that light shines all the same—on a mottled surface vastly different from the hemisphere we know, a surface shielded enough from human radio signal that its observation might offer a glimpse into the birth of the universe. Farside Review is an online literary magazine focused on publishing emerging authors—because, in an age of unprecedented connection, the ingenuity of new voices captivates us in the same way the lunar farside does. In that vein, we’re looking for creative work that rediscovers the familiar, infusing universal themes with singular perspectives.
