The best stories are truly about somebody doing something. Struggle, challenge, and danger are at the heart of our favourite stories. We equally prize any work that is centred on oddball characters, or which makes us laugh. Though these are not requirements, our ideal story does the following: * Begins with action, rather than exposition. * Features an active protagonist who drives forward the narrative. * Carries a sense of tension and uncertainty. Is tightly paced - keeps moving and doesn't linger. * Ends with an unexpected turn.
