If we accept your work, we ask for First Electronic Rights to publish and non-exclusive rights to keep it on our website indefinitely. We also reserve the right to request edits on any work accepted prior to publication. Upon publication, all rights revert back to the author. If you republish your work elsewhere, we ask that you credit us as the original publisher. Artists retain full rights to their work.

Additional info

Accept previously published if the work is from a personal blog or site. We're really friendly! Underrepresented writers and artists, including but not limited to those who are Black, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, deaf, and/or disabled, are especially encouraged to submit their work. We pay a humble stipend of $25 per accepted submission. We hope to be able to offer our authors more in the future!

About the Magazine

Founded in 2021 | Canada

Archetype is a Toronto-based literary journal that strives to publish creative work—essays, poetry, fiction, interviews, reviews—that reminds us of what it’s like to be made of flesh. The journal is committed to being a platform for both emerging and established writers and artists to tell stories that celebrate life, explore human connection, and investigate the idea of being alive. Ultimately, our goal is to publish work that is honest, real, and illuminating.
