Author's rights
By submitting to us, you grant us the right to curate your work on our site, post it on the VMQ social media accounts, and archive your work on our website, all with credit given to you as the author/artist/creator. We will only ever use your submitted and accepted work as material for the issue you submitted for, or for promotion for the magazine (for your issue and as a whole). If we ever plan to use your submitted work for anything else - material for a different issue, for example - we will reach out to you and request permission to do so first. We happily consider previously or simultaneously submitted/published work, but please communicate any restrictions on your work (for example, if accepted elsewhere, if the rights retained by that publisher restricts when we can publish the work, etc).
Additional info
While we are inspired by literary magazines, we are not literature-focused; that is, we want to read, hear, and publish about all kinds of art - writing, sculpting, painting, weaving, carving, on and on. We want your epic poetry on your favorite clay slip, your brutal comparisons between different paint brands, the story behind how you ended up pursuing stained glass instead of becoming an actuary - all of it. From the broadest strokes of pie in the sky publishing dreams to the tiniest differences between tin snips, we want it all. Rolling submission period of 3 months (June 1st through August 31st, September 1st through November 30th, etc), with response time within one month after submissions have closed for that issue (by September 30th for first submission period, by December 31st for second submission period, etc). Responses can be up to 120 days if you submit the first day and we don't respond until the last day of the month following close. If you have not received a response within one month after your submission period has closed, please reach out to us!
