  • Formatting

Make sure your story has exactly 101 words. Strangely, a lot of people get this wrong. The title of your story does not count towards the total word count. Hyphenated words are considered one word. Don't use that as a crutch to cheat. Don't trust the word count in your word processor. Hyphenated words, em-dashes etc. will trip up your word counter. Word counters should be used as a guide while writing and counted manually before submitting.

  • Author's rights

You retain all rights to your work. However, we kindly ask that you not publish your story online—including your own website. This is not a “rights” issue, Google does not like duplicate content. If your story is selected for one of our anthologies, your rights will be slightly different. If that happens, you will be emailed a formal contract to review and sign. We will not publish without your consent.

  • Additional info

We pay $10 (USD) for stories selected to be in Flash Fiction Magazine anthologies. We do not pay for stories published on our website.
