Nicola is an ecologist, an outdoor explorer, a mother, and a writer. Being from Ireland by birth and from Virginia by tenure, lush green land underfoot has been a constant in her life. Her creative essays have been featured in Virginia Native Plant Society’s The Declaration in the Winter 2021, Spring 2023, and Spring 2024 editions, and her nature poems have been published in Writing The Land: Virginia in 2024. Her poem Parenting received an honorable mention in the Virginia Poetry Society’s ann
