In a house, in a city in Britain, there lives a patchwork of queer lives that are full of joy and hope and a family they found within the plastered walls.

A family gathers at their house at the edge of Manchester, but as Jenna crowds into the kitchen with her mother and sister, pinching dumplings, she feels that something is missing, one last family member that had yet to be introduced.

A snapshot of butch life and love in 1969 as a lecturer leads her student into the world she longs for in a humid basement in the center of London.

Gentle Lover

It might be nice, she thought, to never leave her house again. She dropped them both into the cart. With her hands on the handlebar of her shopping trolley and the fluorescent lights giving her a headache, isolation seemed an attractive idea.
