Lydia Gates

Lydia Gates is a queer autistic slam poet from Flagstaff, AZ. She is one of the organizers of the Flagstaff Poetry Slam, which was established in 2000. She has competed on teams at the 2017 and 2018 National Poetry Slams and also at the Bigfoot Poetry Festival and Chicharra Poetry Festival. She finished 8th at the 2025 Blackberry Peach individual National Poetry Slam and was also the champion of the Form Slam. She is the 2024 and 2026 Northern Arizona Book Festival Haiku Deathmatch Champion.
