Born in the Deep South, Matthew left after high school and spent his twenties and early thirties in NYC, where he drank a lot then earned a BFA. After thirteen years of that, he moved to New England. He began writing novels quietly at age fifteen, completing several while making a living through a dozen or more unrelated pursuits. He is now cautiously exploring the publishing world.
