Frances Lai is a Vietnamese-American writer based in Los Angeles. Her fiction surfaces the many fragile yet unacknowledged tensions that beckon greater uncomfortable truths. She is a 2024 Periplus Finalist and holds a Certificate of Creative Writing from UCLA Extension. After a near-death experience followed by a temporary loss of language, she’s been driven by a steadfast commitment to devote her life to her words. She is working on her first story collection.
