Esperanza Cabrales (pronouns she/they) is a queer Chicana writer, poet, enjoyer of pizzas, and teaching artist in the California Bay area. She fell in love with poetry in 2014 and finds inspiration everywhere—from a simple lightbulb to the works of the Somaliland poet Hadrawi. Their work explores identity, joy, cultural roots, mental health, grief, inequality, love, the personification of under- or overappreciated items, rewritten histories, and community.
