Rawhead publishes art, poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and experimental writing. The name Rawhead comes from folklore, where it’s often associated with a grotesque or monstrous figure used to frighten or warn. For us, adopting that name is a deliberate act. It reclaims the idea of the monster as something misunderstood, marginalized, or feared, just like the kind of art and writing we value most. More than that, it’s a subtle rebuke to the real monsters of the world: those who abuse their power.
