Finishing Line Press is a traditional independent small press publisher that was founded in 1998. It is based in Georgetown, Kentucky, USA. 

Originally started by CJ Morrison, the press is known for publishing poetry chapbooks and is especially recognized for launching new talent in the literary world. 

The press has expanded its focus from primarily publishing women’s voices to including all marginalized voices, promoting diversity in authors.

 Finishing Line Press publishes over 100 chapbooks annually and also releases one full-length collection each year. It is a woman-owned and minority-owned press and a proud member of the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses

Finishing Line Press Open Chapbook Competition

A prize of $1,500 and publication by Finishing Line Press is given annually for a poetry chapbook by a writer who identifies as a woman and has not yet had a full-length poetry collection published.

New Women’s Voices Chapbook Competition

We are always open to publishing a good chapbook of any genre: poetry, flash fiction, essays, short stories.
CHAPBOOKS: Submit up to 34 pages of poetry, PLUS bio, acknowledgments, SASE and cover letter.
POETRY BOOKS: Submit up to 48-100 pages of poetry, PLUS bio, acknowledgments, SASE and cover letter.
There is no limit for other genres.  We welcome submissions of fiction, essays, memoir, graphic novels, flash fiction, short stories, children's books, and non fiction of any genre.  There is no page limit but we prefer works under 200 pages.
Please send what you like but only one manuscript per submission.  Please include bio, acknowledgments, and cover letter.

November is our annual open reading period for all genres, for all other months there is a small reading fee.
