Whitefish Review is a nationally-acclaimed, non-profit journal publishing the distinctive literature, art, and photography of mountain culture. Author Doug Peacock has called it, "One of the most refreshing journals to hit the literary scene in years."

Featuring established and emerging authors and artists, Whitefish Review weaves a diverse mix of stories, interviews and conversations along with a 16-page color art section. It is published twice a year, in December and June. As a recognized 501(c)3 tax-exempt corporation created for the public good, it is supported by generous donations, grants, and subscriptions.

Frustration and disappointment with the world and humanity can harden a heart. Still, can you remain open to all the beauty, hope, and goodness there is? Maybe think of someone or something that makes you smile. Do you have a story of another person's kindness that gives you hope? What have you survived with grace? How can awareness of beauty change your world and then the world of others?  Is there something you do that makes someone else smile? What makes you smile and shine light even on the darkest days? What do you love?
In spite of all the reasons it would be easy not to... we are looking to love the world anyway with you for our 32nd issue. Share your art and literary submissions with us to help add light to this energy and song.

Humor can entertain, disarm, expose, and occasionally save us from taking ourselves too seriously. It also has a sneaky way of getting at the truth.
The Montana Prize for Humor celebrates imaginative, original short stories from writers around the world. Send us your best fiction or nonfiction under 2,000 words, with one important requirement: be funny!
We’re looking for humor in all its forms—the absurd, the awkward, the deadpan, the darkly comic, the painfully true, or the story that sneaks up on us and delivers the punch when we least expect it.
Your story can be drawn from real life, exaggerated beyond recognition, or entirely invented. Just remember that humor is more than a punchline. At its best, it reveals something true about who we are, how we live, and the strange world we share.
Funny is hard. But we could all use a little more laughter right now.
So surprise us. Amuse us. Make us think. Be sharp. Be strange. Be subtle. Be ridiculous.
And if you can make us spit our coffee across the room, even better.
Just don’t forget to be funny!
