Voices & Visions Journal publishes creative work by students connected to the Historical Women’s Colleges and Universities (HWCU) community

Voices & Visions Journal publishes works exploring a variety of genres and forms by students connected to the Historically Women’s College (HWC) community. Our featured authors and artists attend historically women’s colleges and universities around the world with a focus on uplifting voices from many unique and diverse backgrounds and identities. This journal allows for an exploration of form and style in order to illuminate the artistry and capability that is spread across the globe. People of any racial and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities are welcome to submit their work as long as they are affiliated with an HWC.

We publish a fall and spring edition each year.

V&V only publishes work from writers connected to the Historically Women’s College and University (HWCU) community as a current or former student.

Voices & Visions Fine Arts Journal

Voices & Visions Fine Arts Journal's theme for Spring 2026 is Excess! Drawing from its Latin roots excedere — to go beyond, to surpass — we want to explore what it means to cross the line, to overflow, to depart from what is considered acceptable. How does the concept of excess manifest itself in our emotions, identity, culture, memories, body, and elsewhere? Our editors are eager for work that lingers in the “too-much”: explorations of what happens when we go past the point of enough and who gets to decide what that is. We welcome any work that has been told in the past that it is excessive, and we hope to receive work that exists self-indulgently, intensely, and flamboyantly.
We're happy to receive any fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, prose, visual art pieces, or videographic art pieces you think speak to our theme.

If your work is too large to be uploaded as a file here, please email it to the email listed below.

The deadline to submit to our Spring 2026 issue is 11:59 PM on March 15th, 2025. You may submit work that has been published elsewhere, provided there are no existing restrictions on its reprinting. Acceptance notices will be sent by March 31st, and the issue will be published by April 20th.

If you have any questions about the journal or submissions, please email voicesandvisionsjournal@gmail.com.
