VERMILLION LIT
DIVINE DISORDER SEEKS WITNESS!

About:
Vermillion Lit is a volunteer-run online literary journal founded by Creative Writing graduates in Sheffield, UK.
- We accept submissions in the form of poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, essays, and art/photography; however, we're always open to the unexpected.
- We're looking for work that is raw, visceral, and utilises language well (not just for the sake of sounding fancy).
- We value pieces that have a clear voice and intention. Experimental pieces are very welcome.
- We are firmly against all forms of racism, discrimination, and inequality, and are committed to publishing underrepresented voices, especially those of BIPOC, Queer, Trans, women, and disabled writers.

Our mission is to provide an opportunity to emerging writers whose work challenges, unsettles, and lingers long after reading. If you write pieces that are a little risky and are struggling to publish them elsewhere, submit to us - we love dark, strange work!

Submissions for our blog are open year-round.
Subs for our mini issue, AUGUST, will close on 21st July.

We are open to anyone and everyone, and are committed to publishing underrepresented voices, especially those of BIPOC, Queer, Trans, women, and disabled writers.

Vermillion Lit

Vermillion Lit is a volunteer run literary journal for both emerging and established writers. In our main issues, we publish poetry, prose, creative nonfiction, art and photography.
On our SubStack, we publish thought pieces, criticisms, reviews, interviews, news, and pretty much everything else.
Our mission is to provide an outlet for writers and artists to publish their works which may be risky or less conventional.

*YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A FINISHED PIECE TO SUBMIT, YOU CAN SIMPLY SEND US YOUR PITCH AND PROVIDE THE FINAL PIECE LATER*

We are looking for:
★Thought pieces, reviews, interviews, cultural commentary and essays.
★Weird and wonderful topics: forgotten internet relics, messy literary moments, hyper-specific aesthetics, the politics of girlhood, the uncanny in everyday life, etc. Also, reviews and interviews on anything related to Vermillion Lit's aesthetic and style.
★If you're not sure, send your idea in anyway!

For more info, see the submission form!

No genre rules. Just bring us work that’s unsettling and weird in the right way. We want the unhinged, the unsaid, the unholy. Give us dirt-under-the-nails writing about gods, grief, rot, and salvation (or the lack thereof).
