a multimedia zine for the artsy, the whimsical and the weird.

A love letter to the weird girl in sixth grade, the one with funky tights and loud earrings. a tribute to everything you always wished to be and everything that you are. It's the quiet acceptance of your truest, most naked self. Welcome to the Myrtle Zine, a place perfect for exhibiting your weirdest tendencies, a haven for the outcasts and throwaways, a place where anyone and everyone is welcome (especially if you're a frog). Got a story that your teacher told you to go to therapy for? Submit it to us, and we promise we'll love it. Hope you find a home here <3

new meaning. We’re looking for writing that explores the quiet marching of time, the ritual of blowing out a new candle each birthday, the myth of reincarnation, how nostalgia lingers–persists , the sweetness and ache of childhood, and the idea that death can be both a beginning and an end. We want work that doesn’t just speak of death, but questions it—invokes folklore, ancestral beliefs, afterlives, memories, and the strange tenderness of endings.
What do you feel when a rose blooms at a cemetery—where life and death breathe within the same walls? When death isn’t just a quiet, peaceful end but it screams — a passageway into another realm ?
What happens inside you when you notice the wrinkles on your parent’s faces, when time is no longer abstract but visible, touchable, almost startling? When you’re not six anymore with party hats and balloons, but sixteen and yearning for something you can’t name?
Your piece does not have to address both birthdays and deathdays—choose one, or linger in the liminal space between them. Interpret the theme in whichever way feels true to you. We want work that grapples with moments of becoming and unbecoming, cycles, transformations, and the rituals that mark our lives as we step again and again into new versions of ourselves.
