A nonprofit indie digital journal passionate about exceptional fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art.

Petrichor occurs the moment rain hits earth. Our fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art are these moments of transformation.

The Drop Literary Journal, published by Petrichor Art & Literary, is a quarterly journal dedicated to short-form fiction, nonfiction, visual arts, and poetry. The inaugural journal will launch October 1, 2026, and will be published four times a year.

Petrichor Art & Literary is a nonprofit indie press dedicated to curating exceptional written and visual art that amplifies traditionally underrepresented voices. We believe story is a catalyst for transformation, a new literary renaissance, and even revolution. Voice and story reflect our shared humanity and ignite new art-making.

Subsequently, we are also passionate about the crafting of the story: editing, working with creators, dreaming up editorial and visual design that facilitates the amplification of voice and expression, and sharing this vision with the world.

The Drop Journal

The Drop digital art & literary journal is open for submissions and will be reading for our inaugural October 2026 issue.
The Drop is published four times a year and includes short form fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art. We are also very open to genre/form blends and mixed media.
Please check specifics for each submission type. For mixed media, mashups or blends, choose best fit.
For all types of submissions, we only accept submissions via Duosuma. Please upload your documents as PDF or DOCX and your images as PNG or JPG, ensuring each file is under 10MB.
Simultaneous submissions are acceptable and encouraged—but please let us know right away if your work is picked up elsewhere.
Upon publication, all rights revert back to the author. We will, however, house your work in our digital and/or audio archives for the lifespan of the journal. If you re-publish your work, we ask that you note its initial publication with us.
If you have to withdraw your work for any reason, please notify us through Duosuma. Please leave a short message on your submission using “The Drop Withdrawal” as your subject line so we can find your note easily.
We strive to respond to submissions within four months or less.
