The Cadence Review is a multimedia magazine for the beautifully unresolvable. Here, we believe language is an instrument: a bow drawn across experience until it sings.

Every artist's pulse is present in their work, and we make it a point to celebrate these different cadences—these rhythms that remember both the wound and the wonder that follows it.

After all, prose and poetry orbit the same signal: transmission from the interior.

The Cadence Review

The stories we grew up with—what happens when they begin to splinter?
Fairytales promise order: monsters, morals, a candid ending. A fairytale is a story. A fable is not. Something fabled is something that has been told, retold, half-believed, and inherited sans consent. A fairytale is not a fable—that being said, it can become one.
The Cadence Review’s sophomore issue invites artists to approach the fairytale as what it is fabled to be: a living thing with the potential to be disrupted, misremembered, and pulled apart at the seams. When the tale is whittled to the marrow, what remains?
