Episcopal Charities of New York

A New York–based literary journal devoted to enduring prose. We publish essays, fiction, poetry, and criticism that aspire to stylistic longevity and intellectual seriousness, in the tradition of American letters and classical forms.

The Astorian is a New York–based literary journal devoted to enduring prose and an orientation toward literary tradition. We publish essays, fiction, and criticism that aspire to stylistic longevity and intellectual seriousness, in the tradition of Anglo-American letters.

We pay a small stipend to all contributors and donate half of our earnings to the Episcopal Charities of New York, which supports nearly 100 community-based organizations, providing critical funding and operational support to help over one million individuals in need across New York City each year.

We aim to respond to all submissions within two weeks.

We accept writers from all backgrounds and cultures. We donate a portion of our proceeds to Episcopal Charities of New York, and are always particularly interested in hearing from those raised or living as Episcopalians.
