YMCA’s Downtown Writers Center in Syracuse, New York

A journal of arts and ideas from Upstate New York, was founded at Syracuse University's University College, and is now published by The YMCA's Downtown Writers Center, at the Arts Branch of the YMCA of Greater Syracuse. The annual publication appears each February.

Stone Canoe considers for inclusion previously unpublished works of short fiction, creative nonfiction, short plays, poems, and works of visual art created by people who live or have lived in Upstate New York. For simplicity's sake, we current define "Upstate" as that portion of the state which is outside of New York City and Long Island.

The writer must be a current or former resident of upstate New York, but the piece submitted can be about anything at all.
