Queer small-press print mag from across so-called australia and beyond

River Theory mag is an intimate, 50 page magazine edited by Tilda Njoo and Hannah Vlies Lawrence. The publication includes personal essays, art, poetry and fiction. River Theory mag aims to facilitate the development of emerging artists and writers with a focus on collaboration, network-building, and skills-development. The project is queer-led and strives to engage young queer people in projects that prioritise creative agency and autonomy.

River Theory mag

River Theory magazine was conceived on the banks of the Shoalhaven River, which runs through Walbanga Land, of the want for a magazine that is queer, relational and sincere. Featuring creative non-fiction, fiction, art and more, River Theory mag is a loving assemblage of works made in collaboration with emerging writers and artists.

In our second edition, we want to continuing building a relational and respectful literary space for emerging creatives. River Theory 02 will culminate in a print magazine; and embody the flowing together of people, places, beings and relationships.

We are looking for pieces that:

- Are preferably over 1000 words (unless poetry)
- Are sentimental, thoughtful and situated
- Have not been published online (please let us know if it has been published elsewhere in print)
