Prairie Home Magazine&nbsp;is an online collection of poetry that will appear on the first of every other month via our website and social media.<div><br></div><div>We read submissions on a rolling basis and will present a select number of submitted poems and pieces in the two-month span leading up to our next issue that we feel spoke to us.</div><div><br></div><div>After a 1.5-year hiatus, during which our Editor-in-Chief has continued navigating Long COVID, we are pleased to announce that submissions are now open for October 2026.

We appreciate poems that evoke emotions and captivate us with vivid imagery, strong emotional expression, and creative language use with a generally straightforward, humble delivery: think Tracy K. Smith, Charles Simic, Ted Kooser, and Billy Collins. We tend to favor concise, short, and impactful poems or prose that deliver an element of surprise.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Established and new poets are encouraged to submit. Please, no long poems. We will read longer pieces but prefer a poem or piece that will fit on one page.</div>
