  Overland’s mission is to foster new, original and progressive writing exploring the relationship between politics and culture, especially literature, and to bring that work to as many people as possible Fiction submissions from Australia and New Zealand only the editors prioritise submissions by subscribers (while all work will be read, we cannot guarantee response times to submissions by non-subscribers) Overland publishes emerging, politically engaged poets, printing their work alongside more established national and international progressive contemporaries. We are especially keen on receiving submissions from women writers of colour in all areas – fiction, poetry, nonfiction and art.
