Oxford-based cooperative magazine covering global justice, politics, and development from a progressive perspective since 1973.

New Internationalist magazine offers sharp analysis and global coverage of today’s most urgent issues. From conflict and migration, to climate change and democracy, we dig that bit deeper to place headline stories in their proper political, social and economic context.

Our network of writers brings alternative perspectives. And with more than 50 years at the forefront of independent media, we have earned a reputation for thoughtful, progressive journalism that gives a human face to the news.

We pride ourselves in covering stories that the mainstream media often ignores, instead highlighting voices from the Global South.

Our award-winning journalism is read by thousands of people around the world every day.

We have been publishing high-quality, in-depth commentary on a range of issues since 1973.

We have no media moguls or corporate advertisers influencing what we do.

We are a totally independent co-operative and proud to be co-owned by our staff team and over 4,600 reader-owners.

We like under-reported stories, set often (but not exclusively) in the Global South, that look at upcoming elections, workers’ struggles, new technology, human-interest stories, social movements, activist campaigns, arts & culture, conflicts and more.

STRUCTURING YOUR PITCH

When submitting a pitch to us, please include the following details, and try to keep it under 300 words.

The Story: Start with a compelling lead.
