General call

Please note that this category will close for submissions just before midnight Eastern Daylight Time on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, OR as soon as the submission cap of 25 files has been reached -- whichever occurs earlier.
Under this category, "1 for $3," a single file may be uploaded and may contain one cheribun no longer than 1,000 words including title and any epigraphs and/or footnotes.
Or, a cheribun sequence (i.e., two or more linked cheribun) will be considered. A sequence is counted as a single piece, and the max. word count of each sequence is 1,000 including sequence title, any titles for individual micro-cheribun within the sequence, and any epigraphs and/or footnotes.
Under this entry category, the max word count for the single submission file is 1,000 (one thousand), including title of the cheribun, as well as any epigraphs and/or author footnotes.
All entries of cheribun will be considered for publication. Depending on the number and quality of cheribun received, Clare MacQueen hopes to publish at least a dozen in Issue 33 of MacQueen's Quinterly in mid-August 2026.  And if she's fortunate enough to receive a deluge of marvelous cheribun, then she will happily publish the overflow in Issue 34 in mid-September.
For further details about word counts, prizes awarded, extra credit for Q words, etc., please see the complete guidelines for this writing challenge at the MacQ website:
