A literary magazine of longing, glitch, and digital touch.

Fragmentation is a literary journal dedicated to exploring the fault lines between connection and rupture in the digital age. We publish fiction, nonfiction, poetry, hybrid forms, and media of all kinds—including visual art, photography, and multimedia—that engage with intimacy, technology, and fragmentation.

We seek work that embraces the beauty of disruption and silence alike: fractured narratives, glitch aesthetics, fleeting messages, stories that live in the gaps. We want stories that refract reality, perform closeness, and show how absence can speak.

Fragmentation

We’re interested in writing and media that explore the fault lines between intimacy and rupture in the digital age. We want pieces that fracture and reassemble, that glitch and distort, that linger in silence. Show us the longing inside a pixelated touch, the unfinished message, the story that lives in the gap between connection and loss.

Think Plato’s cave, shadows and refractions. Think loud silences, fragmented visions, intimacy performed through code, paper, and screenlight. Surprise us.

POETRY SPECIFIC: Ah, poems. What better way to celebrate form as message, fragments and glitched messaging, and other aspects of our magazine's theme. While as always, feel free to submit anything that you feel embodies our magazine's identity, we value pieces that use form as message in some capacity, particularly in our poetry.

NONFICTION SPECIFIC: This journal is inspired by an in-progress thesis exploring how technology impacts the way we perform communication and intimacy. For our nonfiction pieces, be it creative nonfiction, critical essay, or even research, we want you to engage with this concept. Engagement with critical theory (Jacques Lacan, Lauren Berlant, and Baudrillard are some that we were particularly inspired by) is encouraged, but not required.

FLASH SPECIFIC: Flash is such a beautiful method to explore our themes of fragmentation and small moments. While as always, we want you to surpise us with however you interpret our journal's theme, we value pieces that use form as message.
