EPOCH

EPOCH is seeking fiction, poetry, essay, comics, and cover art for Volume 73, Number 2, to be published in fall 2026. A portion of each submission fee, after processing fees, will be donated to the Cornell Prison Education Program. We normally respond within ten weeks once submissions close.
Mail submissions are open year round, but we will only be reading them Sept-Oct and Feb-March. see our website for details.
EPOCH has been in continuous publication since 1947. Our payments vary from year to year depending on our funding. We presently pay between $100 and $500 for poetry, prose, and comics, depending on length, and $350 for cover art. Please be aware, you are submitting to a print magazine, and starting with issue 73.1, we will not be posting any magazine contents on our website.
We don't have length limits, but we tend to value variety, and are more likely to publish an adventurous short piece than a conventional long one, however competently executed. Please do not submit anything that was produced by, or with the assistance of, generative AI technology; such texts violate the implicit contract between publication and reader. We regard AI texts as fraudulent and corrosive to all artistic endeavor and we do not want to read them.
