UK-based (and internationally-minded) online poetry magazine, publishing poems and essays by new and established writers.

boundby was founded in 2022 at the University of Warwick, initially as a student collective hoping to promote and anthologise the writing of young and under-published poets.

Our team have now dispersed, working and studying in a range of fields, and as such our editorial purview has also broadened.

boundby are concerned with what we are beholden to. We are interested in products of the inevitable, the by-design, and poems of the contemporary moment which wriggle their way between the two.

We are a space for uninterrupted movement and mediation between poems and poetics.

Above all, we want to read what you need to write.

These magazines have the fastest response times, so you won't be left hanging for months. No more endless waiting. Just, you know, regular waiting.

This edition, we want to read poems born out of procedure. As we all become both increasingly familiar with and increasingly disenchanted by ‘generative’ AI’s promise of spontaneous creation, boundby 007 looks to human rituals and processes to help repair and engage our lost senses.
<div>
</div><div>‘Generative’ has always been a word for the poets. We hope edition 007 will move beyond the limited ecosystem of the keyboard and word document. We want your poems that could have only ever been written lying in a field at sunset; those methodically activated, however accidentally; those that begin as proof of concept and end as diary entries from a body in motion.
</div><div>
</div><div>We expect that, in affording more of our time and attention to the process of writing poems, the outcome of these generative acts will be all the more unpredictable.
</div><div>
</div><div>In the shadow of large language models and dulled by the outputs of chat assistants, poetic unpredictability is one way we can cut through the masses of sterile text.
</div><div><br></div>

Spotlight Category - Procedural Poetry

In line with our poetic spotlight on procedural poetry, this edition will also publish essays on process and procedure. Essays may explore the work of other poets or/and your own, but crucially they will attempt to address, document, and critique experimental and non-traditional ways of writing and making poetry.&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>As always, we publish poetry-adjacent nonfiction of many different stripes, including lyric essays, literary criticism, reviews, historical studies and unearthings, and more.</div>
