Hybrid can be defined as the undefinable. It is the crossroad between genres and forms and otherwise exhibits unusual qualities that may be considered unconventional. Simultaneous submissions are allowed under the condition that you withdraw your work immediately if it is accepted elsewhere.     Enter a 3-5 sentence biographical statement. Please include your pronouns. If applicable, in your submission you may also include a brief blurb for your recently published book with a link to where it can be purchased. Should your submitted piece(s) be accepted, we will include the provided book on our Contributor Books page. Likewise, if you are a previous contributor to BTL, you can notify us of new book publications for inclusion via our email: bloodtreelit@yahoo.com.

    Abusive or derogatory submissions are not allowed - not now, not ever. BTL is a pro-choice, trans-inclusive, anti-racist publication.

  • Author's rights

    From our Acceptance Agreement: 1. The work submitted is original, created by me, and has not appeared elsewhere. 2. By providing my consent to publication, I am giving Blood Tree Literature the creative right to implement code or pair photos that will enhance—and never distract—from my piece(s). 3. I understand my work will be proofread and, subsequently, may be edited prior to publication. If significant edits that would affect the content are made, I will have a chance to review the edited draft before publication. Your piece(s) will not be published without your final confirmation in regard to such amendments. 4. I release to Blood Tree Literature one-time electronic rights. 5. I release to Blood Tree Literature the right to electronically archive my work as a part of the issue in which it first appeared. 6. I retain copyright and may publish my work elsewhere after six months has passed since the BTL publication date. 7. At my written request, my work can be removed from the website; content will be removed within a reasonable amount of time from date of request. 8. I consent to the use of my name and the brief biography I provide in my submission on bloodtreeliterature.com and in onsite and external marketing efforts, including but not limited to social media, contributor page content, and press releases distributed to media. 9. I consent to the pairing of correlative visual art with my piece(s). 10. I indemnify Blood Tree Literature: that is, I grant immunity from any copyright my submitted piece(s) may infringe upon. 11. I understand there is no monetary compensation provided for my published work unless I'm notified by Blood Tree Literature that I am a contest winner.
